Pre-Engineering

Welcome to Pre-Engineering! It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the educational journey on which we are about to embark. This course will combine mathematics, engineering, fabrication, design and repair. We will investigate; small engines, welding, design, construction management. In order for everyone to have the best opportunity to learn in the best possible environment, each student is asked to do the following.

• Be present, prompt, and prepared
• Respect others: their person, property and space
• Use class time wisely

Wonderful things happen to classes of students that commit to these things. We certainly want that for this class.

Supplies

You will need the following materials each day:

• Calculator
• Spiral or Composition notebook
• Safety Glasses
• Coveralls, Lab Coat or Shop Apron

Grading Policy

Grades will be weighted based on achievement in several categories.

· Laboratory – 50%

There will be extensive laboratory work. Absences on shop lab days must be made up by completing a make-up activity.

· Daily Homework/Classwork – 35%

Emphasis is placed on understanding. Work will be late if it is not completed at the start of class on the due date. Students who miss assignments due to an excused absence will be allowed to make up the work without penalty.

· Final Unit Exams – 15%

There will be a comprehensive exam at the end of each unit.
